
Yogyakarta, 20 Juni 2025 – The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Unit Coordination Meeting with a primary focus on the socialization of Intellectual Property (IP) management. The meeting took place on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM in Room A-203, Building A, and featured guest speakers from the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO) UGM. The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, as well as heads of units, centers, laboratories, and lecturers and students involved in various research and intellectual property creation activities.
This initiative aimed to enhance understanding of IP governance within the faculty while supporting the achievement of the Target Performance (TCK) of 40 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) for the Faculty of Psychology in 2025. During the session, Prof. Ir. Sang Kompiang Wirawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Director of IPMO, presented an overview of the transformation from the former Directorate of Research into IPMO and the strategic role this newly formed office plays in managing intellectual property at UGM. He further elaborated on IPMO’s core duties and functions in assisting the registration and protection of IP. Participants received a detailed explanation of the SIMASTER-based IP registration system, including procedures for filing and recording IP, as well as the support services, consultations, and mentoring available to the academic community.
The Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation at the Faculty of Psychology, UGM, Pradytia Putri Pertiwi, S.Psi., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of synergy between the faculty and IPMO to achieve the established IP targets. “A strong collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology and IPMO is expected to boost not only the quantity but also the quality of IP generated,” she said. She also underscored that a comprehensive understanding of IP management procedures is essential for ensuring optimal protection of innovations created by members of the academic community.
The hybrid-format event was enthusiastically attended by representatives from various units within the Faculty of Psychology, including lecturers and students actively engaged in research. The presence of the IPMO team consisting of the head, two managers, and two supervisors added value to the session by sharing technical experiences related to the IP registration process. The session also briefly reintroduced the 2025 Innovation Development Grant and Startup Grant from the Directorate of Business Development under the ADB PrimeStep program, with the proposal submission deadline set for June 30, 2025. The event is expected to foster stronger collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology and IPMO UGM in the governance and utilization of intellectual property, contributing toward the achievement of faculty-wide innovation goals.
